Usually we mostly use microwaves to heat food. Letís see some hacks using microwave oven. Temperature of the oven has to be adjusted according to its capacity.
1) Crispy papad
Adjust temperature and bake papad in oven for 1 minute. Crispy papad is ready.
2) Crispy potato chips
Peel potatoes and cut them into slices. Soak them in salt water for 10 minutes. Place them in the oven and bake for 2 minutes. If the potato slices donít become crispy, bake for 1 more minute in the oven. Crispy potato chips are ready to serve. Sprinkle some salt and pepper if desired.
3) Bombay rava
For the bombay rava to stay fresh for long time, we need to fry it before storing. Instead of frying it in a pan, it could be fried in the oven also. To a microwave safe bowl, add 1/4 kg bombay rava and heat for 3 minutes on high power. Stir it in between for it to fry more evenly. Let it cool down and store it in an air tight container.
4) Oats
Here I took 250 grams oats. For the oats to stay fresh for long time, we need to fry it before storing. heat for 1 minute, Stir it and heat for 1/2 minute. Let it cool down and store it in an air tight container.
5) Groundnuts
For the groundnuts to stay fresh for long time, we need to fry it before storing. Also, fried groundnuts will be useful while preparing tamarind rice, chutneys, etc. To a microwave safe bowl, add groundnuts and heat for 2 minutes. These could be heated in a bowl or directly heated on the oven plate.
6) Cashew nuts
We use cashew nuts in sweets, biryanis, etc. Pre-frying them will make it easier for us to use later. These could be heated in a bowl or directly heated on the oven plate. Set the timer for 3-4 minutes.
7) Tamarind juice
If in case we forgot to soak tamarind for using it in curries, sambar, etc., the juice could be extracted immediately using an oven. Put some tamarind in water and microwave for 30 seconds.
8) Peeling tomatoes
Put cross cuts on the tomatoes and microwave for 2 minutes. It will become easier to peel the tomatoes.
9) Boiling potatoes
Wash the potatoes and stab it with a fork to make holes. Place it on the plate and microwave for 5 minutes on high power. They can be easily peeled or cut in any desired shape.
10) Boiling brinjals
When we need boiled brinjals for chutneys, sambar, etc. stab it with a fork to make holes, Place it in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 5 minutes.
11) Juicing lemons
When we take the lemons out of the fridge it becomes harder to juice them. Microwave for 20 seconds for the lemon to juice more easily.
12) Biscuits
Biscuits become soft when exposed to air. To harden them, microwave for 30 seconds. They'll become crispy after they cool down.
13) Brown onions
Cut onions and heat for 1or 2 minutes in the oven. This will save a lot of time while frying the onions.
