- 1/2 Cup Black Gram
- 1/2 Cup Green Gram
- 4 Cups Rice Flour
- 2 Teaspoon Chilli Powder
- 1 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 4-5 Teaspoon Sesame Seeds
- 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 Teaspoon Ajowan (Optional)
We need to boil the grams first
To a cooker, add 1/2 cup black gram and 1/2 cup green gram
You could use 1 cup of black gram completely if you want to skip green gram
Cook for 3-4 whistles
Open the lid and mash the boiled gram
To a mixing bowl, add 4 cups rice flour, 2 teaspoons chilli powder, 1 1/2 teaspoon salt or salt to taste, 4 teaspoons sesame seeds, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1/2 teaspoon ajowan and mix
Add 1 1/2 tablespoon heated oil
Add the mashed grams to the mix and knead it into a dough
Add water and knead it into a dough
Place the dough in the snack shaper and press it into desired shape on the back of a plate or spoon
Heat oil for deep fry
Fry them one by one and cook on medium flame
Flip and fry till they turn golden brown
Serve!
Murukku is typically made from rice flour and urad dal flour. It is sometimes called "chakli" chakli is a similar dish, typically made with an additional ingredient, bengal gram (chickpea) flour.
