- Beetroot
- 1 cup Wheat Flour
- 1 Egg (Optional)
- 2-3 tbsp Sesame Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Ajowan
- 1/2 tsp Salt
Peel and wash beetroots
Chop it into pieces
Grind these pieces into a soft paste
To a mixing bowl, add 1 cup wheat flour
Add 2-3 tablespoons sesame seeds, 1/2 teaspoon ajowan and 1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix the ingredients
Break an egg and add it to the mixture
This step could be skipped
Add the prepared beetroot paste to it slowly and mix
Knead the dough
If the dough seems to become too loose, add some loose flour, knead again till puri dough consistency is obtained or if it becomes too hard, add some beetroot juice
Add 1-2 teaspoons oil and knead
Let it sit for 20-30 minutes
Divide the dough into two parts
Roll it and press it as big as possible
Make it as thin as possible
Cut it into 2 halves as shown
Cut off the uneven edges
Take one of the parts and cut into 2 so that both parts are even
Cut it into 3 parts again
Make cuts to this piece leaving an offset of 1/2 inch
Roll the cut pieces one over the other
Separate the rolled pieces so that they look like a flower and put it aside in a plate
Let's deep fry the pieces now
Heat oil for deep fry
Heat the oil on medium heat
Place the flowers carefully into the oil as shown in the video
Flip after one side fried
Fry on low-medium flame
Fry till both sides turn crispy
Serve!
