Ingredients for Biyyam Ravva Upma
1. Coarsely Grinded Rice(Rice Rava) – 2 cups
2. Green Gram – 1/4 cup
3. Onions – 1/4 cup
4. Tomato – 1/4 cup
5. Carrots – 1/4 cup
6. Potatoes – 1/4 cup
7. Cumin Seeds – 1 teaspoon
8. Mustard Seeds – 1 teaspoon
9. Ginger Pieces – 1 teaspoon
10. Salt – 1 1/2 teaspoon
11. Green Chillies – 4
12. Curry Leaves – 1/4 cup
13. Coriander Leaves – 1/4 cup
Let’s see how to make ravva upma with rice rava and green gram
Wash and soak green gram for 1/2 hour
Firstly, we need to fry rice rava
Heat 1 tablespoon clarified butter (ghee) in pan
Add rice rava and for 4-5 minutes
Put the rava aside and Heat 1 tablespoon oil in pan
Then add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon mustard seeds and fry
Add chopped ginger pieces and fry
Then add chopped onions and fry till they turn transparent
Add chopped green chillies and fry
Then add curry leaves and fry
Add chopped carrots and potatoes and fry them
Fry for a couple of minutes and add tomato pieces
Close lid and cook till the tomatoes become soft
Add 3 cups water for 2 cups rice rava and stir
Add 1 1/2 teaspoon salt or salt to taste and mix
Drain off the water from the soaked green gram and add it to the pan
Close lid and let the water simmer
Add the fried rava to the water and mix
Stir so that no lumps are formed
Add coriander leaves and close lid
Subsequently Stir and close lid
Stir and cook till the required consistency is obtained
Serve hot!
