Brown rice is generally used to maintain a proper diet. Let's see how to make kichidi with brown rice.
Soak brown rice for a minimum of 1 hour. Soak red gram also. To a cooker, add 2 teaspoons clarified butter (ghee). Add whole garam masala; 2 bay leaves, 1/2 teaspoon shahjeera, 7-8 peppers, 5 cloves, 3 cinnamon stick pieces, 3 cardamoms. Fry for some time and add chopped green chillies, diced onions and fry. As onions turn transparent, add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste and fry. Fry for a minute and add boiled peas, diced carrot and fry. Add diced potatoes, capsicum and mix. Fry for 2-3 minutes. Add diced tomatoes and close the lid. Cook till tomatoes become soft. Add 2 cups soaked brown rice. Here I soaked it for 2 hours. Add 1 cup soaked red gram and mix. Add mint leaves, coriander leaves and mix. For 2 cups brown rice, 1 cup red gram (total 3 cups), add 6 cups water. Add 1 1/2 teaspoon salt to salt to taste and mix. Close the lid and put a whistle. Cook for 3 whistles. Let the cooker cool down ad open the lid. Serve hot.
