- 2 cups Basmathi Rice
- 1/2 cup Green Peas
- 2 2 Tomatoes
- 1 1 Potato
- 1 1 Onion
- 2 2 Green Chillies
- 1/2 cup Mint Leaves
- 1/2 cup Coriander Leaves
- Whole Garam Masala
- 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/2 Teaspoon Coriander Seeds Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Chilli Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
Wash and soak basmathi rice for 1/2 hour
Heat 2 tablespoons clarified butter (ghee) in a pan
Oil also could be used instead
Add whole garam masala and fry for a couple of minutes
Add diced onions and fry till they turn brown
Close lid and fry
Add chopped green chillies, potato and mix
Add tomato pieces now
Fry till tomatoes become soft
Add 1teaspoon ginger garlic paste, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and mix
Add 1 teaspoon chilli powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon coriander seeds powder and mix
Add mint leaves, green peas and cook for 5 minutes on low flame
Close lid and cook
Add 4 cups water and mix
Close lid and bring water to boil
Add coriander leaves and mix
Add the soaked rice and mix
Close lid and cook on high flame for 10 minutes
Open lid and check if the rice is cooked
Stir once lightly, close lid and cook on low flame for 5 minutes
Close lid and cut off the stove
Try adding some fried panner cubes to make a nice Matar Paneer Pulao.
Crush the whole spices a bit to release their aroma in the rice to their best.
