Onion Chutney | How to make Onion Chutney

Onion chutney is an indian chutney recipe that could be made with very minimal ingredients in very less time. This chutney tastes amazing with any breakfast like idly and dosa. This chutney tastes good with rice also. For more chutney recipes, follow Hyderabadi Ruchulu.

Ingredients

1. Onions – 2

2. Cumin Seeds – 1 teaspoon`

3. Fenugreek Seeds – 1/2 teaspoon

4. Dried Chillies – 7-8

For Tempering

5. Bengal Gram – 2 tablespoons

6. Mustard Seeds – 1/2 teaspoon

7. Cumin Seeds – 1/2 teaspoon

8. Dried Chillies – 2-3

9. Turmeric Powder – 1/2 teaspoon

10. Garlic Cloves – 7-8

11. Tamarind – 15 grams

Recipe Notes for Onion Chutney

Let’s see how to make onion chutney.

Here I diced 2 onions for the chutney

Heat pan and add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds

Secondly, add 7-8 dried chillies and fry

Move the ingredients into a different plate as they start to change colour

In the mean time, let’s prepare tempering for the chutney

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in pan

Add 2 teaspoons bengal gram and fry Also add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds and fry

Add pieces of 2-3 dried chillies and fry till they change colour

Then add, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, diced onions and fry

In the meantime, powder the previously fried cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds To a mixie jar,

Add fried ingredients along with 7-8 garlic cloves, 15 grams soaked tamarind and grind it into a paste with water

Add this paste to the fried onions along with some water and mix

Stir and cook non low flame till oil starts to float above

This chutney could be used for upto 15 days Onion chutney could be paired with any breakfast. It is also a great combination with rice
