Let’s see how to cook Tandoori Chicken at home without an oven
Wash the chicken and put cuts in the chicken for the masala to seep in.
Then, twist the hands to the back
This chicken has to be marinated in two times
First, add 1 teaspoon salt to a bowl along with 1 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder and 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Then Add 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste and mix
Place the chicken in a bowl and spread the masala all over the chicken and inside the cuts
Then Marinate for 10-15 minutes
Let’s prepare masala for the second marination
To a bowl, add 2 tablespoons tandoori masala, 1 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder, 1 teaspoon coriander seeds powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt or salt to taste and 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
Here I’m also adding food colour, but this step is optional
Now, add 3-4 tablespoons strained curd and mix
Then Add 2 teaspoons oil and mix
Spread this masala on the prepared chicken and marinate for a minimum of 2 hours
Put this chicken in the fridge (Or rest the marinated chicken in a cool place)
Here I marinated the chicken for 4 hours
This chicken needs to be boiled now
Then Tie both the legs of the chicken with a thread
Place a thick bottom pan on the stove and place the chicken in it
Put the extra masala in the bowl over the chicken and close lid
Then Cook on medium to high flame
Water will seep out of the chicken as it boils
Flip the chicken after 3-4 minutes and close lid again
If water doesn’t seem to seep out of the chicken, then add a little water. Add only 3-4 tablespoons water
It will take 18-20 minutes for the chicken to cook completely
Poke it with a fork to see if the chicken has cooked completely
The chicken has boiled completely now
To get that tandoori smokey flavour to the chicken we need to place it directly on the flame
Place a grill on the stove and cook the chicken on direct flame (This grill is usually used to make pulka)
Spread butter over it and cook
Tandoori chicken is ready!
