Ingredients

  • 1 pcs Bottle Gourd
  • 1/2 cup Green Gram
  • 1 pcs Onion
  • 5 pcs Green Chillies
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Curry Leaves

SORAKAYA PESARAPAPPU FRY

Let’s see how to make bottle gourd green gram fry

Grate the bottle gourd or sorakaya
Wash and soak green gram for 1/2 hour
Grate the bottle gourd
Seeds also could be used here
Sometimes, a lot of water seeps out of the bottle gourd while grating it.
Don’t throw the water away, use it for making chepati dough
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in pan
Let’s add tempering seeds first
Add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, chopped onions and fry till they turn transparent
Add chopped green chillies and fry
Close lid and fry for 2 minutes
Add curry leaves, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste and fry
Fry for a minute and add grated bottle gourd
Stir and close lid
Let it fry in for a minute in oil
Fry till the bottle gourd cooks completely
Add salt to taste and mix
Add soaked green gram and mix
Close lid and cook for 10 minutes
Stir and cook
Sprinkle coriander leaves and mix
Serve hot with rice or roti
