Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Lotus Seeds
  • 1 cup Onions
  • 2 pcs Green Chillies
  • 1/2 cup Onion paste
  • 1/2 cup Tomato paste
  • 2 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seeds Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • Cashew Nuts
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder

PHOOL MAKHANA CURRY

Here I took 1 cup pool makhana.

Pool makhana is nothing but lotus flower seeds
Firstly we need to fry these lotus flower seeds
Heat 1 teaspoon oil in pan
Add the lotus seeds and fry
Stir and fry and move them into a bowl
Let’s prepare the masala next
Heat 1 teaspoon oil in pan
Add 4 cardamoms, 3 cloves, 2-3 cinnamon stick pieces and fry
Fry for a minute and add 7-8 cashewnut seeds
As cashewnuts start to change colour, add 2 teapoons coriander seeds, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds and fry
Add 1 diced onions and fry for a minute
Add 2 green chillies and mix
Then add 2-3 ginger pieces, 3 garlic cloves and fry
Add pieces of 1 tomato and cook
Close lid and cook
Let the ingredients cool down and grind it into a soft paste by adding some water
Let’s make the curry now
Heat 2 tablespoons oil
Add 1 finely chopped onions and fry till they turn transparent
Now, add the prepared paste and cook on low flame
Fry and add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon chilli powder, 1 teaspoon salt or salt to taste and mix
Add some water for gravy and mix
Cook for a minute and add 1 tablespoon crushed fenugreek leaves
Now add the fried lotus seeds and mix
Close lid and cook for 2 minutes
Add coriander leaves and cut off the stove
Pool makhana masala curyy is ready to serve!
Serve hot with rice or roti!
