Ingredients

  • 400 gms Tamarind
  • 1 cup Coriander Leaves
  • 3-5 pcs Green Chillies
  • 7-8 pcs Garlic Cloves
  • 2 tbsp Jaggery
  • 2 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Black Gram
  • 2 pcs Dried Chillies
  • 1/2 cup Curry Leaves
  • 1/2 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Salt

Lets see how to make tamarind chutney

Firstly, wash the tamarind and let dry
Remove stems if any and put aside
Also, wash 1 cup coriander leaves along with green chillies
We will also need 7-8 garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons jaggery and 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
To a mixie jar, add washed, chopped tamarind.
Here we won't be frying anything. We'll be using them as it is
Grind it coarsely
Add coriander leaves and chopped green chillies
Add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 5-6 garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons jaggery, 2 tea spoons salt and grind it into a paste

Lets prepare tempering for the chutney now

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in pan
Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon black gram and fry till they change colour
Add coarsely ground 4-5 garlic cloves for a nice flavour
Then add pieces of 2 dried chillies
Add 1/2 cup curry leaves, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and mix
Cut off the stove and add the prepared chutney
Tamarind coriander leaves chutney is ready to serve!
