Crispy Chana Dal

Crispy Chana is a crispy savory snack. Crunchy and spicy and the best munch for the drizzle with a Hot Cup of Tea or Coffee. Anyone who tastes this Crispy Chana would not resist not asking for more and the recipe too.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Chickpeas or Chana Kabuli Chana
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • a pinch Backing Soda
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Chat Masala

Instructions

  1. Soak 1 cup of Chana Dal (Chickpeas) overnight or at least for 5 to 6 hours with ½ teaspoon of Salt and a pinch of Baking Soda.

  2. Then dry the soaked Chickpeas for at least 1 to 2 hours on a cotton cloth to take off the moisture.

  3.  After they dry well, will deep fry them till crisp and brown. Deep fry them in batches.

  4. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying the Chickpeas.

  5. Add Chickpeas to the heated oil and place a lid as they splutter, on medium flame. Fry them till brown and crispy.

  6.   After some time take off the Chana and place them on a sieve or paper napkin to take-off the excess oil.

  7.   Take the deep fried Chana in a bowl now and add 1 ½ teaspoon Red Chili Powder, 1 a teaspoon of Salt or as needed, and add 1 teaspoon of Chat Masala to it.

  8. Mix them all and our crispy and crunchy Chana is ready. Enjoy the spicy munch.
