Learn Pongal Rice Recipe in Telugu Language
INGREDIENTS
1. Rice - 1 Cup
2. Green Gram - 1/2 Cup
3. Dried Chillies - 2
4. Cumin Seeds - 1 Teaspoon
5. Pepper - 1 Teaspoon
6. Chopped Ginger - 1 Teaspoon
7. Clarified Butter (Ghee) - 2 Tablespoons
8. Salt - 1 Teaspoon
9. Cashew nut Pieces
Wash rice and green gram. To a bowl, add 1 cup rice, 1/2 cup green gram and wash it 2-3 times. Soak it. Heat 2 tablespoons clarified butter (ghee) in a cooker. Add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, pieces of 2 dried chillies and fry. As dried chillies start to change colour, add chopped ginger and fry for some time. Add curry leaves. Coarsely grind pepper and add it. Cashew nuts also could be added. As they start to change color, add soaked rice and green gram after draining off the water. Mix for a couple of minutes. Add 3 cups water for 1 cup rice. Add 1 teaspoon salt or salt to taste and mix. Close the lid and cook for 3 whistles. Let the cooker cool down and open the lid.
