Lemon Rice Recipe

 Lemon rice is one of the most popular South Indian rice recipes. It is a comfort food for many and is very simple to make even with leftover rice! Follow this simple recipe by Hyderabadi Ruchulu to make lemon rice at home easily.

Ingredients

  • Cooked Rice
  • 2 Lemons
  • 5 Green Chillies
  • 3 pieces Ginger
  • 3 Dried Chillies
  • 1/2 cup Curry Leaves
  • 1 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tsp Bengal Gram
  • 2 tsp Black Gram
  • 3 tsp Groundnuts
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Sesame Seeds Powder

Recipe Notes

Coarsely grind green chillies and ginger

Let's prepare tempering now

Heat 3 tablespoons oil in pan

Add 1 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds and fry

After a minute, add 2 tablespoons black gram, 2 tablespoons bengal gramĀ 

Fry for some time and add groundnuts

As they start to change colour, add dried chillies

As they start to change colour, add curry leaves and fry

Fry for a minute and add coarsely grinded ginger and green chillies

Fry for some time and add 1 teaspoon turmeric powder and mix

Tempering is ready now

Cut off the stove

To the cooked rice, add salt and mix

Add lemon juice and mix

Add the prepared tempering to the rice and mix

Add sesame seeds powder and mix

This step is optional

This recipe could be made with left over rice also

Serve!
