  • 1/2 kg Chicken
  • 1/2 cup Bengal Gram
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seeds Powder
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt

Preparation of Chicken Senaga Pappu

  • Lets see how to make chicken curry with bengal gram
  • This curry tastes very good with chepathi or rice
  • Chicken and bengal gram are both high protein food
  • Here I took 1/2 kg chicken for this recipe
  • Soak the bengal gram for 30 minutes in water
  • Firstly, we need to boil bengal gram.
  • Add the soaked bengal gram along with the water to a cooker and cook for 2 whistles
  • If the bengal gram isn't soaked, then cook it for 3 whistles

Senaga Pappu Chicken Curry Preparation

  • Heat 2 tablespoons oil in pan
  • Add chopped onions and fry
  • Close lid and cook
  • Fry till they turn brown
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste and mix
  • Now add cleaned chicken and cook till all the water seeping out of it boils away
  • Now add 2 diced tomatoes and mix
  • Then add 2 chopped green chillies and cook till tomatoes become soft
  • Close lid and cook
  • Add boiled bengal gram along with 2 teaspoon chilli powder, 1 teaspoon coriander seeds powder, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds powder, 1 1/2 teaspoon salt and mix
  • Add more water and close lid
  • Cook till gravy thickens
  • Sprinkle coriander leaves and cut off the stove
  • Serve hot with roti or rice!
