Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg Bittergourd
  • 1 Mango
  • 1 tbsp Chilli powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Grated jaggery
  • 1 tbsp Bengal gram
  • 1 tbsp Black gram
  • 1/2 tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp Mustard seeds
  • 2-3 Dried chillies
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 4-5 Garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • 3 Onions

Making of Kakarakaya Mamidikaya Curry in Telugu

Lets see how to make mango bittergourd curry
This bittergourd curry with mango is very tasty with minimal bitterness
Here I used 1/4 kg bittergourds.
They dont have to be grated, but I grated them a little
We will also be using peeled grated mango
To a pan, add diced bittergourd pieces along with the grated mango, 1 teaspoon chilli powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon grated jaggery and mix
Turn on the stove, close lid and cook
Stir and cook till water seeping out of the bittergourd and mango boils away
Cut off the stove
Heat 1 1/2 tablespoon oil in a different pan
Add 1 teaspoon black gram, 1 teaspoon bengal gram, 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds and fry
Add 2-3 dried chilli pieces, 2 green chillies and fry
Then add 4-5 garlic cloves along with some curry leaves
Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and mix
Now add 3 diced onions and cook till onions turn transparent
Now add the cooked bittergourd pieces and fry
Stir and cook
Add 2 teaspoons sesame seeds powder and cut off the stove
Bittergourd mango curry is ready to serve!
Serve this kakarakaya mamidikaya curry with rice or roti!
