Peanut Chikki Recipe
Peanut chikki is one of the most favourite sweet candies among Indians. What’s better than home-made chikki that tastes exactly like the chikki we ate when we were kids? Follow this simple recipe by Hyderabadi Ruchulu to make chikki at home with only 2 ingredients
- 1 cup Groundnuts
- 3/4 cup Jaggery
The amount of jaggery used could be increased or decreased based on the sweetness desired.
To prepare chikki, groundnuts need to be fried first.
Heat pan and fry groundnuts
Fry till they change colour.
Move it into a plate and let the groundnuts cool down.
Crush the groundnuts so that the outer peel falls off or apply pressure with a bowl
Remove the peel completely and put them aside
Let’s prepare jaggery syrup
Add 3/4 cup jaggery and 1/2 cup water
Melt the jaggery by stirring
Stir and melt till thread consistency is achieved
Take water in a bowl. Put the jaggery syrup in it. If the jaggery melts, it means that the syrup is not ready, boil for some more time.
If the jaggery syrup comes together when added to water then it means that the syrup is ready.
After preparing the syrup, add fried groundnuts and mix.
Stir for a couple of minutes
Spread oil or clarified butter (ghee) on a wide plate
Pour the prepared mixture onto the plate and spread it.
Spread it while it is still hot, the mixture hardens after it cools down
Spread it on the plate with a spoon
Let it cool for 1/2 hour to 1 hour
As it becomes luke warm, cut it into desired shape and size
Chikki is ready.
