Broken wheat upma, a quick & easy breakfast or evening tiffin made with godhuma rava is a very tasty alternative for a regular upma. Follow the recipe given here by Hyderabadi Ruchulu and make it yourself at home!
- 1 cup Broken Wheat
- 1 tsp Clarified Butter (Ghee)
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 2 tbsp Groundnuts
- 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 2 tsp Black Gram
- 2 tsp Bengal Gram
- 1 tsp Ginger Pieces
- 4 Onion
- Green Chillies
- Carrot Pieces
- Potato Pieces
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 cup Mint Leaves
- 1/2 cup Coriander Leaves
Heat a pan
Add 1 teaspoon clarified butter(ghee).
Fry 1 cup broken wheat in the pan.
Take it into a different bowl after frying.
Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan.
Fry 2 tablespoons groundnuts.
Add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, 2 teaspoons black gram, 2 teaspoons bengal gram and fry.
Add 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger pieces.
Add 1 diced onion, 4 chopped green chillies and fry.
Add curry leaves and fry. Add carrot pieces, potato pieces and fry.
Other vegetables like capsicum also could be added.
Close the lid and the vegetables cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
Open the lid and mix. For 1 cup broken wheat, add 2 cups water.
Add 1 1/2 teaspoon salt and mix.
Close the lid and let the water boil.
To the boiling water add fried broken wheat and mix.
Close the lid and cook on medium flame.
Add 1/2 cup mint leaves, 1/2 cup coriander leaves and mix.
Serve hot with favorite chutney!
