Ingredients

  • 1 kg  Chicken Curry
  • Chilli Powder
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • Whole Garam Masala
  • 2 pcs Onions
  • 2 pcs Tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup Curd
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander Seeds Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Dried Mint Leaves
  • 1/4 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder

Recipe Notes

DHABA STYLE CHICKEN CURRY

Here I took 1 kg chicken
The chicken has to be marinated first
To cleaned chicken, add one and half teaspoon chilli powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste, 1 tablespoon lemon juice and mix
Marinate for two hours at least, it could be marinated overnight also
Here, I put the chicken in the fridge for three hours
Heat one and half tablespoon oil in pan
Add whole garam masala- 1/2 teaspoon shah jeera, 4 cloves, 2 to 3 cinnamon stick pieces, a small star anise, 3 cardamoms, 1 bayleaf and fry for a minute
Add to chopped onions and fry till they turn brown
Close lid and fry
As the onions turn brown add to diced green chilies
Then add 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste and mix
Now add tomato paste. Here I ground two medium sized tomatoes into a paste
Fry this tomato paste in oil for sometime
Fry till oil seeps out of the tomato paste
Add half cup curd and mix
Beat the curd properly before you add it to the curry
Cook for a minute and add half teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder, 1 1/2 teaspoon salt or salt to taste, 1 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds powder, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds powder and mix
Then add marinated chicken and mix
Close lid and cook the chicken on high flame till the water seeping out of the chicken boils away
Add one and half cup water for gravy and mix
Don’t make the chicken too much or the pieces will break
Cook till the gravy thickens
As the gravy thickens and add 1 teaspoon dried mint leaves and mix
If more masala flavour is desired then add 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder and mix
Dhaba style chicken curry is ready.
Serve hot with rice or roti
